Sometimes you just need a quick graphic organizer to explain a science concept! We’ve got you covered with printable graphic organizers and examples.
Each two-page article includes high-quality, authentic text about a science topic and 11 questions. Integrate science and reading to build knowledge and help students practice their comprehension skills.
4th Grade Science TEKS Posters
Includes a poster for each of the new science TEKS
Explicitly teaching 4th grade science content vocabulary just got simpler!
Presentations designed for each of the 4th grade TEKS
This file includes 159 mini-charts to use with absent students or to reinforce lessons.
ASSESSMENTS
4th Grade Science TEKS-Based Assessments
This pack includes study guides, quizzes, an answer key, and graph and reflection pages.
These quizzes will help you assess your students' understanding of new academic vocabulary.
This file includes 120 printable exit slips to quickly check for understanding.
PHENOMENA-BASED UNITS
Ten units are designed explicitly for the new 4th grade science TEKS. They follow the 5E model and include claim-evidence-reasoning, assessments, investigations, reading, vocabulary, and notebook templates.
Students investigate to determine why a density tower looks the way it does. Students will explore magnetism, physical state, temperature, and relative density in this investigation.
Magnetism and Temperature Investigation
Using our guide, students design a simple investigation to determine how temperature impacts attraction to a magnet. This is a hands-on investigation of the properties of matter using simple materials.
How much of our food is made of mixtures? Explore mixtures, solutions, and conservation of matter in mixtures during this hands-on unit.
Racecars Force and Motion Investigation
Using our guide, students design a simple investigation with racecars to determine the relationship between the floor surface and the distance a toy car rolls.
We love our electronics. Where does the energy we use come from? Explore natural resources in this unit focused on fossil fuels and renewable energy.
Clouds, Weather, and Water Cycle Unit
Can looking at clouds help you predict the weather? This science unit helps students investigate types of clouds, weather, and processes in the water cycle.
Why does the moon's appearance seem to change? Explore moon phases in this mini unit focused on Earth's closest neighbor.
Explore the food webs of different owls with this unit. Dissect an owl pellet and write a claim of what the owl consumed with evidence and reasoning.
Carnivorous Plants Guided Research Unit
Why are some plants carnivorous? Explore how producers make their food during photosynthesis and cycle matter, as well as the structures and functions of plants (both ordinary and extraordinary) that help them survive in their environment.
What affects the way an organism looks? Explore inherited and acquired traits for the physical appearance of plants and animals.
OBSERVATION STATIONS, MODELS, & DEMONSTRATIONS
Student teams use tools to measure mass, volume, and length.
Students practice measuring force with a spring scale.
Students investigate the transfer of energy by objects in motion, waves in water, and sound waves.
Students observe how matter can be classified based on relative density using water as a reference point.
Magnetism Observation Stations allow students to use a magnet to determine whether 18 objects are magnetic or nonmagnetic and draw conclusions.
Students explore building circuits, how removing a wire can change how many bulbs are lit, and the production of mechanical, sound, and light energy.
Students use a thermometer to measure 6 different things in degrees Celsius.
Natural Resources Found in Rocks
Students explore underground natural resources in rocks, including fossil fuels, minerals, and groundwater.
Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition
Students explore six models for weathering, erosion, and deposition by wind, water, or ice.
Fossils Observation Stations allow students to draw conclusions about past environments for 6 different fossil scenarios.
Students model the porosity and permeability of rocks.
Students collect information, graph, and analyze data to determine relationships when studying seasons and patterns in space.
Conservation of Matter Demonstrations
This is a simple set of 3 demonstrations for the conservation of matter in three different mixtures: water and oil, sand and water, and sugar and water.
SIMPLE STEM
There are 5 STEM projects for the engineering TEKS: Build a bobsled, construct a solar oven, make an electrical conductivity tester, make your own harmonica, and explore chromatography.
BACK TO SCHOOL RESOURCES
Intro to Science Slides and Notes
This bundle includes 4 presentations with differentiated notes for the following topics: safety, tools, measurement, and observations.
Science Measurement Task Cards
24 task cards to check students' understanding of science measurement
Science Measurement Observation Stations
Students visit 6 stations to practice scientific measurement.
REVIEWS AND EXTENSIONS
You can review previously taught concepts in just minutes. Use printables or Google Slides.
In Google Slides, students individually collect information from 3 different sources and then combine that information to answer a question. Each activity has 2 differentiated options. There are 20 digital activities included.
Relevant topics to 4th grade are included for independent review.
Advanced students work on guided 10 different Google Slides activities to dive deeper into a topic.
This file includes 10 content-based science challenges students can complete independently or in pairs.
With sets of 20 NO PREP multiple choice task cards, you can be sure that students understand the most important science terms.
Each of the 20 topics includes a Google Form with 5 sections. Students will watch short video clips, analyze a diagram or graphic organizer, and read a short text. Questions can be auto-graded in Google Forms to check for understanding.
5 quick stations in each unit for a fun, informative review
These versatile sorting cards are perfect for a fun review! The topics each include 27 sorting cards, sorting signs, and an answer key.
BONUS ITEMS
Notebook tabs make it easy to organize your science interactive notebook by unit.
Most students need a lot of practice with scientific practices, and this is a fun way to hone those skills while learning about the properties of matter, mixtures and solutions, and physical and chemical changes.
This flipbook is easy to assemble and fun to create with students at the end of the year.
Printable or digital pages to review all concepts
Students will use the internet to complete a chart with the plants, animals, climate, and land characteristics of all 10 Texas ecoregions. They will also complete a map of where each ecoregion is located.
