What educators are saying

I love that these are differentiated by having a variety of words for one meaning. It is a simple way to introduce new character traits. We match them and then play memory.
My students loved using this resource! They were engaged in the resource and had no trouble getting started.

Description

Do your students have a hard time describing characters using specific traits beyond nice and mean?

This is a set of vocabulary matching cards for character traits, synonyms and definitions. There are 60 main trait cards with a matching definition card. Along with each main trait card, there are 1-4 synonym cards for that particular trait.

This product includes:
-60 main trait cards (2.6” x 3.6”) with definitions
-kid-friendly definitions of common character traits
-1-4 synonym cards for every main trait
-blank trait & synonym cards so you can include other words
-2-page table listing all the main traits, synonyms, & definition.
-blank table so students can fill in traits as they learn them

The main trait and definition cards are colored coded purple. The synonym cards are green. Here are some different ways to use these:
They could be cut and laminated to use as a center matching game. You could cut and laminate and then attach magnetic tape to the backs to display on a whiteboard. You could also keep them in tact (without cutting apart) and introduce 1-2 traits (with given synonyms) each week. The class could come up with some additional synonyms and you could fill in the blank cards together!
