APUSH Period 2: English vs. Native American Conflicts (Pequot/King Philip's War)

Students will be engaged while gaining a strong grasp of the A.P. United States History redesign curriculum's concept 2.1 which looks at multiple aspects of English relations with Native Americans.

This analysis Google Doc activity includes a link to History Channel's Ten Days that Unexpectedly Change America's document segment on "Massacre at Mystic" (Pequot War) - edited 20 minute version that is perfectly designed for AP related content. After answer four analysis questions designed around APUSH Concept 2.1, students then use a short web article to compare and contrast the event with the 1675-76 King Philip's War. The entire analysis activity can be completed in 30-40 minutes and effectively teaches multiple areas of key concepts regarding English and Native American relations.
