Anatomy and Physiology Lab - Introduction to Dissection with Pickle Autopsy

This fun and engaging lab activity is the perfect addition to your Intro to Anatomy unit! Using specimens like pickles or bananas, students learn about dissection techniques, body planes, and anatomical terminology. This is a favorite lab in any high school Biology or Anatomy classroom!

PLEASE NOTE: This resource is part of my Intro to Anatomy & Physiology Unit and my Full Anatomy & Physiology Curriculum.

Students will practice using:

• body cavities & body planes
• anatomical terminology and directional terms
• the types of dissection tools and their uses
• types of incisions
• how to make detailed drawings during a dissection

*If your students have not yet learned anatomical terminology, directional terms, and body cavities/planes, please use my Intro to Anatomy & Physiology Unit to teach these prior to using this lab.
