- Google Docs™
Description
This note packet is intended to be completed digitally via Google Docs. However, you can still print this assignment out to provide paper copies to students if needed.
This note packet, designed to be used in place of a text book, covers important concepts of Ancient Egypt and Nubia for middle schoolers. Section One discusses the geographic significance of Egypt and the Nile River system. Section Two introduces the role of pharaohs and dynasties on Egyptian society (as well as the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms). Section Three covers Ancient Egyptian religion, mummification, and pyramids. Section Four outlines Egyptian social classes and famous innovations. And finally, Section Five briefly explains Ancient Nubian culture.
Important words and terms are bolded and highlighted in yellow, and Thinking Questions are embedded throughout. Students may work individually (or in pairs) to complete the thinking questions upon teacher request. Each question is intended to emphasize the importance of a specific piece of information, or drive home an overarching point. Keys containing possible answers have been provided on the last two pages.
