    Description

These Back to School Read Aloud lessons and activities are perfect for community building the first weeks of school. This bundle includes read aloud activities for the books The Most Magnificent Thing, We’re all Wonders, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon, Do Unto Otters, Ish, and The Invisible Boy.

You can get to know your students while covering reading comprehension standards. The books and accompanying activities are great for discussing important themes like kindness, growth mindset, inclusion, confidence, empathy, and bullying.

We pride ourselves on creating lessons that cover reading standards and help your students dive deeply into the text while falling in love with the story and characters. We spent years researching and refining our read aloud lesson plan for young learners.

How do our read aloud lessons work?

Each week's lessons focus on one book and will guide you through 3-5 days of reading lessons. Our detailed lesson plans include answer keys and samples. They are so easy to follow, you could even leave them for a substitute.

Each day, students will have a different purpose for revisiting and talking about the text. Speaking and listening are at the heart of interactive reading, therefore, they are incorporated throughout the lesson as students talk about the text and answer comprehension questions in a whole group or with partners. After reading, revisiting, and discussing the text each day, students complete a response to text activity. At the end of the week, students work on a writing prompt and craftivity.

    Each book’s lesson plan includes:

    • Detailed lesson plans with samples
    • Comprehension questions with answer keys
    • Response to text activities or graphic organizers (differentiated)
    • Writing Prompt
    • Craftivity
    • Bulletin Board Titles
    • Graphic organizers pre-loaded to Google Slides and Seesaw

*The digital graphic organizers are similar to the printable options.

*Seesaw has many interactive tools to choose from. Text boxes are not pre-loaded on the graphic organizers because students may want to type or draw, which they can easily do with the provided tools in the program.

Prep is quick and easy.  Gather the books, print the lessons and corresponding activities, and you’re ready to teach engaging read alouds for 4-6 weeks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I have used these monthly bundles for a few years and love them! I discovered this fall I hadn't purchased this one and had to fix that! These stories are perfect for my beginning of the year character building read aloud series! These units are so thorough and I love the writing and crafts for each book!" -Resources from Miss G

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️An excellent way to integrate social skills, comprehension and engaging activities AND detailed lesson plans. I used this resource on the very first day of school this year and I look forward to using it every year from now on. My students loved the books and the activities that coordinated with them. I would highly recommend this product for setting expectations at the beginning of the year, or really any time of the year at that! We are now at our 100th day of school and the students still reference the "Do Unto Otters" book! Thank you for all your hard work." - In The Woods

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I can’t wait to use these next year. If first bought just one book to see how I liked it. I tried it out at the end of the year and was so impressed! I instructed my students to listen and enjoy our first read, then asked the questions. Then, the next day when we did our 2nd read, I told them what skill we would be working on and that we would be digging deep. I was AMAZED at how deep they were able to go within the text. They were making awesome connections and really focusing on the skills. I’m so happy I found these and plan to buy the entire year!" – There is a Unit for That
