Baseball Literature:Baseball Bibliography CCSS 4.5

With Spring and Baseball in the air, I know that tapping into each student's interest in valuable in your classroom. Perhaps you are like me and like to have a table where you display special interest books that vary with seasons, topics, etc. Some days there just isn't enough TIME to read all of the books and determine which ones would be best to grab for my class. Thus this list.

This resource is list: eleven (11) pages of Titles, reviews, AR levels, and authors that I made as I was exploring the topic of Baseball.

The essential thing is these books all have the same main theme and topic which is BASEBALL: America's sport!
One CD and four books are solely on Casey at the Bat, the infamous poem by Ernest Thayer. The music and cd are unique and sure to add to your classroom interest, especially in spring! I found this at our local library and what a fun way to have something different in your class.
The list includes 26 books that include non-fiction, various age levels and information of interest for your background and for your students to browse. When I study nonfiction, I like to stress the basic components the students can find in these books like table of contents, glossary, index, etc. I listed what each contains so that you can decide which ones will be useful for your purpose in that day's lesson and example.
Also included are 29 Accelerated Reader book titles and their respective levels, and points so that you have easy access to something your students may find motivational to read to earn their monthly or weekly points! Again, I found these at the local library where we have a share loan agreement, so that you can have some different ones than your school library might have for your students to partake in!
