Berlin Wall course map with worksheet in German
During the period of division, Berlin was divided into East and West Berlin. Each part had its own specific sectors and districts.
West Berlin was divided into different sectors, including:
American Sector: this sector comprised the western part of the city and was occupied by the United States.
British sector: The British sector included parts of West Berlin that were controlled by British troops.
French sector: Similar to the British sector, the French sector was a part of West Berlin controlled by French troops.
East Berlin was the sector controlled by the Soviet Union. It was the capital district of the German Democratic Republic (GDR).
These sectors were not only separated administratively, but also politically and economically, which further exacerbated tensions between East and West during the Cold War.
