The bundle includes approximately 500 pages (1/2 PDF and 1/2 Digital for Google Slides TM) in length to give you options for all 10 books. Your students will have the opportunity for learning many comprehension skills and strategies.

Included in this unit are topics such as The Civil Rights Movement (Martin's Big Words and The Story of Ruby Bridges), the Underground Railroad (Henry's Freedom Box and Sojourner Truth's Step-Stomp Stride), Kindness, Confidence, and Acceptance (Each Kindness, Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut), and Perseverance (Wilma Unlimited, Amazing Grace, When Marian Sang, and Salt in His Shoes). Several of the titles would work well with a unit on biographies too. Please note-This bundle is recommended for grades 4 and up due to the themes and types of activities.

Although these titles include sensitive topics, students in fourth and fifth grade learn about these points in history and these titles are some of the best options to use in conjunction with your content area studies.
