Description
This curriculum was made to be both in-person and distance learning friendly. It can be taught or assigned digitally or reviewed in person with your class, a small group, or individually.
With young learners in mind, the K-2nd grade slide deck has no typing prompts, but rather “drag and drop” activities. The K-2nd worksheets have circling or coloring activities.
The 3rd-5th grade slide deck has a combination of “drag and drop” activities and also includes writing prompts. The 3rd-5th worksheets include writing prompts to promote critical thinking.
The lessons allow students to explore, learn, and critically think about social justice, empathy, inclusion, and kindness. Students will be introduced to seven famous African American historical figures. They will learn about the challenges they overcame and the successes that they've made to make our world a better and kinder place. Students will critically think about causes, effects, and feelings of injustices. They will get to share how they will stand up for people being treated unjustly and how they can help spread kindness, respect, and compassion. Â
