Description
This is a bundle of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) resources for small group counseling or individual counseling. The components are focused on helping students understand their feelings, manage negative thinking, develop coping skills, take the perspectives of others, and problem solve situations. Games, hands-on activities, lessons, and reinforcement plans are included.
The Helper Squad is a set of engaging characters that I developed to help elementary aged-students access the more abstract concepts that are part of CBT. The characters are presented as helpers as students learn the new skills.
Chief Emotional Officer (CEO): helps you identify how you are feeling, how strong your feelings are, and how you usually feel in certain situations.
Dr. Positive: helps you analyze automatic negative thoughts and find the evidence. She uses a step by step process to look for thought errors and makes sure you are using all the facts.
Coping Captain: helps us figure out what coping skills to use when our feelings and thoughts are overwhelming. He makes sure we are able to calm down so we can make positive choices.
Impact Inspector: helps things have gone wrong. She takes a close look at the impact of actions on you and others, and how the impact would change with different behavior.
Fantastic Fix-It: helps after a situation has gone badly and finds real ways to try to make the situation better.
What is included?
