What educators are saying

Arguably the most fun my students have had all year! Great addition to any lesson(s) about the Cold War. All students were engaged, and many actually had some heated debates about what to include! This activity highly delivered on getting students thinking and talking with each other.
This is amazing! Make sure you add this to your places. The students were so engaged in this activity.

Description

This is a fun and engaging activity when teaching about the arms race during the Cold War. Includes both print and digital versions.

Students will begin by reading and watching an informational, 1950s film clip about how to create a bomb shelter and then they will create their own by designing their shelter and listing the items they will bring. Fun!

Buyer Feedback:

I used this resource as an intro to the Cold War to give my students an engaging first look at that period. They really enjoyed it; each group loved coming up with what to put in their bomb shelter and it was so much fun listening to their explanations of what they chose and why! Ranie
