Christmas Stuff: A Fun, Funny and Simple Christmas Concert Skit and Song
What educators are saying
Description
Summary: This is a terrific, crowd-pleasing, performance tested, secular Christmas concert number designed to be performed by students in Grades 3 - 6. The premise is that a group of seniors (your students in costume) have been picked up from their retirement home to go and see the school's Christmas concert. While they are waiting for the performance to begin, they discuss what they miss about being kids at Christmas. This conversation leads into the theme-matching song "Christmas Stuff" by Nathan Carter (you can check the song out on Youtube).
Background Info: Often, at my school, each teacher was responsible for his/her students Christmas concert number. I'm no singer, and teaching my class to sing was certainly outside of my wheelhouse. However, by combining short, simple skits, karaoke backed songs and music videos I was able to prepare my students to present great Christmas concert numbers. Of course, part of the key was finding super, lesser-known Christmas songs that were easy to teach to the kids. Christmas Stuff by Nathan Carter is just fabulous and led me to the idea of having kids dress as senior citizens attending a children's Christmas concert and reminiscing about their times as kids at Christmas. This theme meshes perfectly with the song and the skit leads right into their singing. The kids loved dressing up as, acting like and speaking like "old folks." Of course, the audience loved it, too!
