What educators are saying

My students really enjoyed this engaging activity. It helped them understand the concept of the text and really put it to use.
Used as a quick review of what students should know/remember from 5th-grade. Great for state testing review, also.

Description

Citing text evidence is an integral part of a writer's understanding and supporting text explicitly, as well as drawing conclusions and making inferences within the text (CCSS.RL.7.1, 8.1, 9-10.1). Citing evidence and citations are an important part of all classrooms, and this resource will teach your students how to cite evidence correctly!

This 10-minute mini mastery lesson will have your students comprehending, practicing, identifying, and mastering citing textual evidence in the literature. In addition, your students will have a better understanding of why citing text-based evidence is important to supporting and elaborating on literature.

Teaching a mini-lesson is a key part of a classroom. It gives the students an opportunity to see the teacher model skill or term, and then the students practice this on their own. These mini-lessons follow the “I Do/”You Do” method.
