Using this template in my homeroom and class periods created a good routine for students and me. It made objectives and expectations clear to students and me. While it did take time to fill it out every week, overall, it set the tone for the start of class and ultimately allowed more time for me to transition from one period to the next, and also check in with student needs. As a whole the students knew what to expect walking into the room and were busy with the bell ringer. I found a timer on YouTube and placed it on the top right for the bell ringer. It worked well to help students be prompt - if the timer was up and they missed the bell ringer, bummer for them and resulted in a loss of points at the end of the week.
