What educators are saying

It was so touching to read the students letters. With their permission, I forwarded them on to the staff so they could experience the letter too.
This was a hit as a Senior Seminar final project! I gave my students various project choices and this was overwhelmingly the favorite. Many of my students remembered things they hadn't thought about in years and wrote great, genuine reflections.

Description

For this lesson students will write a letter to their freshman selves. This is a great writing assignment for seniors in high school. Included are 17 reflection questions to help seniors write. I also video record my seniors reading these and then make a mashup of their best advice. Included are links to some video examples of, "Letters to my younger self" videos. The lesson is provided as a pdf, powerpoint, and a word document with a link to the fully editable Google Slides presentation. This is a great lesson for seniors and the questions really help to guide them along. This could be adapted with any grade. The students would just write to their younger selves.
