What educators are saying

This was a straightforward way for the kids to practice electron configurations. It really helped them understand by doing this.
Once they got the hang of it this made their lives a lot easier. Great way to teach electron configurations.

Description

This A3 graphic organizer assists students in solidifying their understanding of atomic structure and the periodic table as they draw electron configurations for the first 20 elements. The worksheet combines concepts surrounding atoms and elements and helps students develop their mastery of the Bohr model through repetition. The first 20 elements (Hydrogen to Calcium) are included.

This resource is part of my bundle on electron configurations. Click here to see the bundle of five resources for $8.00.

Perfect for an in-class activity or as homework, throughout this activity students will:

  • List the name and atomic number of each element
  • List the number of electron shells for atoms of each element
  • Identify the electron configuration for each element
  • Draw the electron configuration for each element

This worksheet would be provided to students prior to introducing them to ions and isotopes, and is based on the information students can obtain from the periodic table.

The worksheet is formatted as A3 (11.7 x 16.5 inch) - therefore it would best suit being printed as an A3 sheet. The file provided contains both PDF and Word formats for this document, so it can be easily edited to fit your standard A4 paper (very close to letter size).
