What educators are saying

As a first-year English 2 teacher, I wasn't sure how to approach "Do Now" or "Bell Ringers". This has helped immensely with getting students in their seats, working on something, engaged, and ready for the day. Thank you!
These were great to use as bellringers for my students. A nice variety of activities that encompassed many areas of ELA.

    Description

When you purchase this product, you'll receive:

    1. English Bell Ringers | Engaging Warm Ups for High School
These bell ringers are used to push students to think critically and analyze a variety of texts in a short “chunk” of time.  Most of these pieces can be completed in 5-10 minutes - giving you that sacred time to take attendance and a deep breath! :) Students will work with a variety of texts from poetry to writing prompts.  Each day is broken into a specific topic to be sure that students are working with multiple genres.

    Monday: Informational Text

    Tuesday: Poetry

    Wednesday: Writing

Thursday: Fiction (both reading and creating)

Friday: Learning from short, informational videos

These warm ups are a labor of love for me.  I have spent years concocting the “perfect” mixture of texts to push students in their analytical skills. I have been able to see my end-of-course exam grades rise after introducing students to analysis and critical thinking in short pieces.

Many of these pieces do not have a concrete, correct answer.  Keep in mind that literature is highly subjective. I always enjoy hearing “fresh” ideas from my students!  I hope that you and your students will enjoy these warm ups as much as my classes do. You’ll find a detailed list of topics and texts covered in the warm ups.

There are enough warm ups for 9 weeks of instruction. Volume 2 (an additional 9 weeks) will be added to my TpT shop shortly!

***YOU WILL NEED INTERNET ACCESS TO YOUTUBE FOR THE FRIDAY WARMUPS!***

When you purchase this product you will receive:

    - 9 Weeks of daily warm ups WITH ALMOST 50 DIFFERENT SKILLS for students to use, practice, and mastery!

    - Answer/Reflection Booklet for student answers

    - Full answer key and answers suggestions

    - Suggestions for Use

PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE PREVIEW TO VIEW EXAMPLES, SUGGESTIONS, AND MORE!
