What educators are saying
This was one of the best products I have found to help with benchmark fractions. It is typically a hard concept for them to learn but the color coded visual made it so much easier.
Description
Great visual for students struggling to understand how to estimate whether a fraction is close to 0, 1/2 or 1 and what it means! Perfect for small group! I place the sheet in a page protector so that they are able to cross off parts as we look at each fraction.
NC.5.NF.1 Add and subtract fractions, including mixed numbers, with unlike denominators using related fractions: halves, fourths, and eighths; thirds, sixths, and twelfths; fifths, tenths, and hundredths.
- Use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate mentally and assess the reasonableness of answers.

CCSS5.NF.A.2
Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole, including cases of unlike denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. Use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate mentally and assess the reasonableness of answers. For example, recognize an incorrect result 2/5 + 1/2 = 3/7, by observing that 3/7 < 1/2.
