The War of the Vegetables is a short fairy tale style play script for young performers. It's a gentle comedy about racism, bullying and living in harmony with others. When the Peas and Tomatoes are accidentally planted in the same vegetable patch, they fight for space. But when the nasty bullying Runner Beans arrive, the Peas and Tomatoes work together against a common enemy.
The Narrators in this play speak in rhyming verse, so it's great for literacy learning. The script also offers opportunities for shy students to perform in non-speaking roles.
This script includes full production notes - with great ideas for costumes, props, scenery, lighting, music and sound effects. It also includes linked follow-on activities for further work in the classroom or drama studio.
The license gives your class, school, college, or organisation permission to perform the play up to 3 times to any internal or external audience, in real life or online.
I hope your students enjoy performing this play. I really enjoyed writing and directing it, and my students loved performing in it.
Please do send any reviews, rehearsal pics, recordings, or photos to info@artsonthemove.co.uk and I'll share them on social media or on my Arts On The Move YouTube channel for kids. Have fun and break a leg!
