What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this project. We just finished reading "The Castle Diary," and they learned about feudalism throughout the unit, so they enjoyed sharing their knowledge with this task.

Description

In this project, students must get into the shoes of someone living in Feudal Europe. They should select a class to represent, and create a character. Then they have to write a diary from that characters perspective that accurately and creatively depicts life during this time period. Students should attempt to discuss the shift from manor life to medieval towns in Europe.

In addition to the diary, students will create a visual representation of a feudal town.

This is an editable word document with a project description and rubric included. This project works great for most grade levels as you can differentiate according to your students level and creativity. It also gives students the option to research and cite sources (for a 4) which is a great way to introduce them to researching and finding "good" sources of information (and not just google images).
