I am beyond THRILLED today to share with you a brand new First Grade Math Curriculum that is designed to make math FUN, hands-on and engaging for First Grade students! If you are looking to get away from the boring box curriculum or even just supplement your current math curriculum, THIS is the Kindergarten Math curriculum for you! You can use the units as a whole math curriculum or as a supplement to any classroom or homeschool math instruction. They can be seamlessly implemented into any math curriculum!

How are the Units Covered?

Each unit will offer two components to help make the math units

meaningful and engaging for whole group, small group or individual lessons. The First Grade Math Units can be a supplemental resource for current math curriculum, or it can be used as a whole math curriculum. The curriculum is designed to give the teacher flexibility and freedom to rearrange the units to fit the needs of his/her students. Since there are so many practice pages and centers in each unit, the teacher can use many of the pages as a spiral review as the year progresses.

Math Centers Included in this Unit

  1. Center 1: Place Value: True or False? - Count the base ten blocks on a card. Decide if the equation is true or false and sort.
  2. Center 2: Spin the Place Value- Spin both spinners. Draw the tens and ones and write the value on the recording sheet.
  3. Center 3: Place Value Match- Count the base ten blocks. Match it with the numeral. Record the tens and ones on the recording sheet.
  4. Center 4: Place Value: Spin a Number- Spin both spinners. Add the base ten blocks. Draw the tens and ones and record the number on the recording sheet.
  5. Center 5: Build a Number- Two players take turns. Each player has a different color. Choose a number on the board. Build the number using base ten blocks. If the player builds the number correctly, he/she can cover the number with his/her color.
  6. Center 6: Place Value: Spin and Color- Spin the spinner. Color the tens and ones to match the number.
  7. Center 7: Place Value Donuts- Match the donuts to the donut boxes. Record the value in the correct box.
  8. Center 8: Make a Match- Find a number that matches the value on the board. Write the numbers on your recording sheet.
  9. Center 9: Place Value Buckets- Match the top and bottom of each bucket. Record the total value on the recording sheet.
  10. Center 10: Place Value: More and Less- Fill in one more, one less, ten more and ten less. Use a hundreds chart if you need help.
  11. Center 11: Popcorn Addition: Add the 1-digit number to the 2-digit number. Find the matching popcorn and record your answer.
  12. Center 12: Number Puzzles- Match the base ten blocks, base ten break-down, and number to build the puzzle.
  13. Center 13: Spin the Place Value- Two players take turns spinning both spinners. Build the numbers with base ten blocks. The player with the higher number colors a happy face.
  14. Center 14: Domino Place Value- Pick two dominos. Flip them to make the largest number possible. Draw the dominos and write their values on the lines. Compare the values using >, < or =.
  15. Center 15: Place Value: Flip and Cover- Flip a card. Cover the number on the board that matches the base ten blocks. (Numbers 10-39)
  16. Center 16: Place Value: Flip and Cover- Flip a card. Cover the number on the board that matches the base ten blocks. (Numbers 40-69)
  17. Center 17: Place Value: Flip and Cover- Flip a card. Cover the number on the board that matches the base ten blocks. (Numbers 70-99)
  18. Center 18: Count, Compare and Clip-Count each group of base ten blocks. Clip a clothespin to show if the groups are greater than, less than or equal to.
  19. Center 19: Place Value Sort- Sort the cards onto the correct number mat.
  20. Center 20: Place Value Cover Up- Flip a card. Cover the number on the board that matches the tens and ones.
  21. Center 21: Place Value: Color it!- Count the base ten blocks. Match it with the numeral. Record the tens and ones on the recording sheet.
  22. Center 22: Ten Less and Ten More-Count the group of tens and ones. Write the numbers that are ten less and ten more. Record the numbers on the recording sheet.
  23. Center 23- Place Value: Build and Record (without regrouping)- Build the addition problem using base ten cubes. Solve the addition problem and record the answer on the recording sheet.
  24. Center 24: Place Value: Build and Record (with regrouping)- Build the addition problem using base ten cubes. Solve the addition problem and record the answer on the recording sheet.
  25. Center 25: Place Value: Build and Record (Subtraction without regrouping) - Build the subtraction problem using base ten cubes. Solve the subtraction problem and record the answer on the recording sheet.
  26. Center 26: Spin and Cover- Spin both spinners. Add the tens and ones and cover a number to match.
  27. Center 27: Finding Sets of 10- Circle sets of ten.Write the number of tens and ones.
  28. Center 28: Place Value: Card Game- Two players take turns flipping two cards from the deck. The person with the largest number wins that round. Record your answers on the recording sheet and circle the winning number for each round.
  29. Center 29: Place Value: Flip and Compare- Two players flip a card at the same time. The person with the largest number wins that round. The person to cover all of their hamburgers first wins the game!
  30. Center 30: Spin and Build:Adding Multiples of 10- Two players take turns spinning both spinners. Build the numbers with base ten blocks. The player with the higher number colors a happy face.
  31. Center 31: Place Value: Build and Record- Build the addition problem using base ten cubes. Solve the addition problem and record the answer on the recording sheet.
  32. Center 32- Add and Clip- Add the ten frames, popsicle sticks, tally marks or numbers on the card. Clip a clothespin to the number that matches.
