Description

This Geometry Math Mystery Differentiated Bundle contains all of the grade versions for the Case of the Giant Goblin available (Grades 2-6). This bundle is excellent if you need to differentiate within your classroom because the clues are interchangeable between the 2nd - 6th-grade editions. You may also find this a useful option to customize this math mystery to better suit your class.

Please note: Customary and metric options are both provided within this download.

Easy prep! Just Print & Solve! Or go paperless with the new Google Docs option provided within your download.

Distance Learning Update: I've added a Word Document in the folder containing a Google Slides link to share this resource with your students via Google Classroom or Drive. Parts of the pages are editable, so your students can complete them without printing them. Please note you will need to make a copy of the Google Slides to your drive before you can edit.

Use the video to introduce the activity in a fun way. After viewing, students must continue with the paper part of the activity to solve the case.

Within the download, you will receive the following:

- The math mystery PDF files for each grade level (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th)

- An editable list with two premade alternative lists to change the mystery solution

- The MP4 video file for the Video Hook (optional to use to introduce this activity in a fun way).

- An ending video to wrap up the case after your students complete the activity (please note that the ending video matches the original suspect/locations list mystery solution)

You can also purchase the grade packs individually via the links below:

How long will this activity take?

Time to complete will vary anywhere between 30mins - 2 hours or more! It mainly depends on how familiar your students are with the math mystery format and how difficult they find the math skills covered in the particular mystery. Please check the math skills outlined in the clues above to help determine suitability for your class. I highly recommend pacing this activity by giving students one clue at a time. Once the whole class has completed a clue, then move on to the next clue, either within the same lesson or the next math session. New math content presented? Make a lesson out of it by modeling the math before diving into the clue. I like to say, "We must learn something new before attempting the next clue." There are many ways to implement this activity in your classroom; learn more in the blog post link below: Read Blog Post: Five Easy Ways to use Math Mysteries in your Classroom.
