The songs are catchy and get stuck in long-term memory, so often students can retrieve the song (and information from it) many months after the song has been sung.

Most excitedly, my students enjoy pointing out idioms, prefixes, apostrophes, "juicy" adjectives, and other language arts components whenever we are reading and writing in class.
