Groundhog Day Slideshow and Video
Both formats are included and cover the same material - use one or both! The video is formatted in PowerPoint™ and is also compatible with Google Slides™.
We learn about the history of Groundhog day and why we celebrate this special day on February 2nd each year.
A follow up activity page is included to check for comprehension.
Shadow Experiment
This simple experiment helps student understand what a shadow is and how they are made. All you need is the activity page and a small lamp or flashlight. I link a helpful video on the blog post as well.
Groundhog Report
Students read a simple passage about groundhogs and record the facts on the coordinating graphic organizer.
I include differentiated writing papers so students can easily turn their notes into complete sentences and create "All About" mini books displaying everything they learned about groundhogs.
An adorable bulletin board craft is also included for them to display their facts.
Groundhog Lifecycle
I display a colorful poster showing the lifecycle of a groundhog. Students then complete a cut and paste activity.
Students now get their very own mini book to read about the lifecycle of a groundhog. They can color it and take it home to their families.
Groundhog Labeling
Two differentiated versions are included in both color and black and white
"If I were a...." Writing and Craft
Students write a paper pretending they are a groundhog.
Three differentiated versions are included.
Students make an adorable groundhog to glue on their paper. I have picture directions to walk students through how to make it. You can display these directions to help students follow directions.
Hang their projects in the hallway or on your bulletin board.
Prediction
Students use this paper to make a prediction whether or not the groundhog will see his shadow this year.
