My class has to take assessments (I-Station) where they need to be quick with finding the correct word to fill in the blank. We like to practice using these stories by sitting together during guided reading and trying to think about our answers and getting faster and better every time!
Guided reading time is PERFECT to use these passage puzzles! Read the story together and try to figure out which word goes into the blanks to make the story sound right.
Then, flip the page over for some comprehension questions! They will also get writing practice when they give their own opinion about the topic of the story!
Also included are three sentence scrambles per passage that you can work on sentence order! Guided reading is the perfect time for this as well or during centers once they're getting better at reading on their own!
Perfect if you do a lot of CLOZE reading, which is fill in the blank passages that help with comprehension!
