Description
Demonstrate how fossils form in just hours right in your own classroom! Gummy Bear Fossils is a lot of fun for students. They always LOVE learning with candy!
Aligned to Georgia Performance Standards for Science for third grade, S3E2 (Students will investigate fossils as evidence of organisms that lived long ago. b. Describe how a fossil is formed.)
This experiment sheet follows the scientific process and features a materials list, step-by-step instructions, and doubles as a graphic organizer for students. Use in groups or individually. Students will write their hypothesis, explain their reasoning, illustrate what they know and how it compares to the gummy bears at each step of this experiment process. At the end, students must use critical thinking to explain how the process of a fossil forming compares to their experiment.
