What educators are saying

I used this resource with my Algebra 1 course. I modified it to be a red, yellow, and green activity which worked out well. They were engaged and completed the tasks within the class period.
This is a great resource to help students review for the transformations test. Very easy to use, and the kids loved having all of the examples in one place. I highly recommend this!

Description

This 10 page workbook has 18 problems to strengths students' skills on Translations, Rotations, and Reflections.

When purchasing this product you will get a version with QR codes and a version without QR codes so you can choose which one you prefer to use in your classroom.

***This is for a High School Geometry class. Not for use in middle school classrooms. If you are looking for a workbook that is for an 8th grade classroom please visit 8th Grade Transformations Workbook with QR Codes. It is the same workbook just without vectors and the complex reflections.***

Types of Problems Included

  • There are 4 Translation problems. These translations are along vectors. "Translate figure XYZ according to the vector <2,-1>."
  • There are 4 Reflection problems. One X-axis reflection, one Y-axis reflection, and two reflections along the line y=x.
  • There are 6 Rotation problems.
    • - 90 degrees clockwise
    • - 90 degrees counter-clockwise
    • -180 degrees clockwise
    • -180 degrees counter-clockwise
    • -270 degrees clockwise
    • -270 degrees counter-clockwise

  • There are 4 Multiple Transformations problems that require students to perform a reflection and a translation.

Important Information

Students may check their answers via the QR codes. Answer key is also included at the end of the workbook.

This took my Pre-AP Geometry students 45 minutes and my grade level students about an hour.

Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
Represent transformations in the plane using, e.g., transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not (e.g., translation versus horizontal stretch).
Given a rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, or regular polygon, describe the rotations and reflections that carry it onto itself.
Given a geometric figure and a rotation, reflection, or translation, draw the transformed figure using, e.g., graph paper, tracing paper, or geometry software. Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another.
