    Description

Bundle and SAVE on this collection of our favorite science and STEM holiday activities. You will get 7 project-based units popular for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, and Easter. They meet the standards and can be used anytime, too! Students will learn through discovery.

    Each Unit Includes

    • An investigation following the scientific method.

Each Unit Contains Either or Both of the Following.

    • A further exploration that expands on the investigation.
    • A STEM Challenge to apply their new knowledge.

We create each experiment and activity to be appropriate for this age group. This is why you will find slight variations.

    Students will

    • follow the scientific method to learn to think like a scientist.
    • discover the science of chemiluminescence in glow sticks.
    • learn how to make butter and the science of milk and cream.
    • discover how salt can be used to dangle ice on a string.
    • uncover the science of hot chocolate for making a recipe.
    • measure their heart rate to introduce the role of the heart and complete an exercise tracker.
    • Separate white light into the visible light spectrum and make a spinning top.
    • Explore the sun's energy and create a popsicle shade device.

    Teachers will

    • like the step-by-step guides and ideas for material substitutions.
    • like having experiments that meet the standards and fit a holiday season.
    • be able to integrate this into their units.
    • enjoy having something that gets the kids discussing science.

The length of each unit varies. Depending on how in-depth you go and how often you see students, you should plan for 1 week and some 2.

For example, start the hot chocolate unit in mid-January leading up to National Hot Chocolate Day on January 31st. The students will love ending the unit by on the 31st by creating their hot chocolate recipe.
