AIM: How did Pan-Africanism lead to independence in Ghana and Kenya?
ACTIVITY 1 -- DO NOW
Students will analyze a map of Africa to identify independent nations and states under European imperial rule in 1950 and compare this map to another from 1980.
ACTIVITY 2 -- TEXT ANALYSIS
Students will analyze a text about the topic and answer questions. The text will include key information that scaffolds for the lesson.
ACTIVITY 3A -- DOCUMENT ANALYSIS
Students will analyze a document about Kwame Nkrumah and Ghanaian independence and answer questions.
ACTIVITY 3B -- DOCUMENT ANALYSIS
Students will analyze a document about Jomo Kenyatta and Kenyan independence and answer questions.
ACTIVITY 4 -- ASSESSMENT
Students will choose one of two options for assessment to submit on looseleaf.
