Description

This character analysis planner is a comprehensive resource designed specifically to help middle and high school English teachers guide their students through the process of writing effective character analysis paragraphs.

This planner provides a structured approach, allowing students to develop their analytical skills while providing teachers with a clear framework for assessment.

What you get:

Planning Sheet: This planner begins with a worksheet that prompts students to fill in the character's name and traits they wish to explore. They also fill in quotes that support the trait they've selected, and write their analysis of the quote.

Outline: The guided outline helps students structure their paragraphs effectively. Students are prompted to choose their three strongest quotes and commentaries, and build their paragraphs based on the provided outline.

* Now includes a modified outline & planning sheet for differentiation that asks for two character traits instead of three or four.

Sample Paragraph: To further support students, I have included a precise character analysis paragraph as a model. This sample paragraph allows students to study and analyze how to weave in and cite quotes properly, provide strong commentary, and include a sufficient introduction and conclusion.

Lined Page for Final Draft: In case your students need paper on which to write, or you would just like to provide it for everyone.

Rubric: A comprehensive four-point scale rubric is provided to assess various elements of the character analysis paragraph.

Benefits of the Character Analysis Student Planner:

Facilitates Organization: The planner's planning sheet and guided outline assist students in organizing their thoughts, quotes, and commentaries, ensuring a well-structured essay.

Supports Critical Thinking: Through focused prompts and reminders, students are encouraged to delve deeper into character analysis, honing their critical thinking skills and developing a nuanced understanding of literary characters.

Enhances Writing Skills: The sample paragraph serves as a model for students, helping them improve their writing skills and master the art of integrating quotes, providing insightful commentary, and crafting strong introductions and conclusions.

Simplifies Assessment: The rubric provides teachers with a ready-to-use assessment tool covering key elements of a character analysis essay. Grading becomes more streamlined and efficient, ensuring consistency in evaluation.

With this planner teachers can confidently guide their students toward crafting well-structured and thoughtful character analysis paragraphs, and eventually, essays.

This planner facilitates organization, encourages critical thinking, and supports the development of strong writing skills. Engage your students, streamline your assessment process, and help your students excel in character analysis with this comprehensive resource.
