What educators are saying

I used this resource to play idiom pictionary with my 5th and 6th grade classes. These idioms were perfect for my needs.
My students loved this resource. They were engaged and enjoyed the activity, even requested to do it again multiple times.

Description

Are you out of ideas for warm ups or those five minute time-fillers at the end of a shorter-than-anticipated lesson?

Do you need a new, interesting way to teach idioms to your English, Reading, or ESL class?

Try this engaging pictionary/charades activity that will have your students begging to get out of their seats and participate!

Card set includes 70 colorful (and black/white) cards listing popular idioms.

The difficulty varies throughout the set, allowing you to pick and choose the cards that are most age-appropriate.

Some examples included:
-Wake up on the wrong side of the bed
-Head over heels
-Couch potato
-All ears

How to play the pictionary version:
Similar to the original game, one student picks a card from the stack. He/she draws an example of a picture of the idiom written on the card. Classmates take turns guessing the word until they are correct. The student who guesses correctly is the next student to draw.

How to play charades version:
One student (or teams) pick a card from the stack. They act out the idiom that is written on the card. Classmates take turns guessing the word until they are correct. The student/team who guesses correctly is the next student to act.
