Lesson Plans- A five day outline with suggestions of ideas for a close reading routine of the book and daily writing.

Digital Student Activities- Want to use these activities as part of your distance learning classroom or digital classroom? This file now includes a digital student notebook making it super easy to share with students and have them complete each activity! Last Day Questions- After reading the book, use these question cards to check for basic understanding of the text. Questions range from level 1-3 on Webb’s Depth of Knowledge scale.

Last Day Story Elements-Students work to understand the basic elements of fictional stories including: Characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end.

Last Day Character Traits- Students brainstorm words that would describe Mrs. Hartwell and words that would describe their teacher. Includes an illustration element.

Last Day 3-2-1 End of Year Reflection- After reading the text, students work to brainstorm things they’ll miss about their classroom on a classroom anchor chart. Then, work to fill out the Last Day 3-2-1 tabbed reflection booklet. Also includes a quick print if you’re pressed for time or paper.

Synonyms and Antonyms- Students learn more about the relationship between words with this whole group or small group game. Also includes reference posters and cut and paste worksheets.

Last Day Writing- Three writing prompts based on the book and one general writing paper. Includes self-checking rubrics. ✍

Emoji Crafts- Have students choose one big emoji or three smaller ones to express how they felt on their first day of school. Use to decorate your students' writings.
