Learner-Driven Libraries (Directions Only)
Description
Welcome to your learner-driven library system (DIRECTIONS ONLY)!
Why does it matter?
As we go into many traditional school libraries, the books are sorted by FIC and the Dewey Decimal system. This organization makes it difficult for learners to quickly find books and discover other books within the same genre.
To reduce time and increase reading satisfaction, let's generify the collection into favorite authors, favorite series, I can read books, chapter books, and novels. This will make the library collection more learner-driven, because it's been created to spark learner interest and personal inquiries.
What resources are available?
There are three ways that you can get informed about creating a learner-driven library.
1. Watch the in-depth video (for free) about my process to spark new ideas about creating a learner-driven library: https://youtu.be/NjxMLxU--Tg
2. Purchase the Learner-Driven Libraries COMPLETE SET (directions AND poster set). You can find it here.
3. Purchase the Learner-Driven Libraries: DIRECTIONS ONLY (this set).
The directions only set will include:
- an overview of the different roles of a modern librarian and how they support a learner-driven library
- QR code videos that explain ideas in greater detail for each section of the guide
- exemplars of modern library spaces that promotes learner agency
- step-by-step directions of how to set-up the generified collection
- examples of small and large end cap posters for each genre
- detailed genre book lists
- helpful suggestions in reorganizing the collection
THIS SET DOES NOT INCLUDE POSTERS THAT CAN BE PRINTED. YOU WILL BE PROVIDED EXAMPLES SO YOU CAN REPLICATE THE PROCESS ON YOUR OWN.
Which Resource Should I Choose?
This is completely up to you and your learning journey. I would highly recommend watching the video first to get a detailed overview of the guide, so you can make the decision to purchase the directions with or without the poster set.
I hope you find a set that helps you to create a more learner-driven library for you and your learners.
