What educators are saying

My students loved the tower activity. It helped them to better understand the engineering cycle. Thank you
Fantastic introduction to the engineering process! Students loved the STEM project as well. Easy prep and the kids do all the work! Thank you!

Description

Let me start by saying that we use the design cycle on a daily basis in all content areas. I made these and they hang up in our classroom. We use post-it notes to show our thinking and where we are in the cycle/process at any given moment! Students also have their own copies of the design cycle organizer to use during our STEM challenges and other STEM activities.

Learning how to use the design cycle is a process for the students, let them find their way through it over the course of the year! Some of these steps are called different names in other versions of the design cycle. We do not always complete the entire cycle in one day and we then come back to different parts, like re-testing at a later time.

This pack includes a NEW Engineering Challenge called Towering Toothpicks that is a great one to use when introducing the design cycle process with students since it is difficult to complete on the first try!

This pack includes:

Towering Toothpicks STEM Engineering Challenge
Design Process Bulletin Board with labels, title, information cards, and student workmats to record their thinking.

The Design Process pieces included are in color and black and white versions!
