Description

This is a fun activity that gives kids the excuse to use M&M's for the sake of science! Test concepts of solubility in chemistry using these colorful candies. This lab involves dissolving M&M's in water. Most kids will hypothesize that dropping two M&M's in plain water will cause the colors to mix--but this lab ends with a surprise!

After kids finish the lab, they can pick an M&M color, and based on the colors they chose, there is an assessment game on the Prezi to test the students' knowledge of solubility.

DOWNLOAD INCLUDES:
-Prezi presentation (similar to PowerPoint)
-Detailed Lesson Plan
-Guided Notes
-Lab Data Chart

**Please note that this is a lab. As always, adhere to lab safety guidelines that exist in your school. It is recommended to use plain chocolate M&M's, as allergies to peanuts are very common. Please check to make sure students do not have any allergies or dietary restrictions in case they are tempted to eat the M&M's.

Also, please ensure you have the necessary materials to conduct this lab PRIOR to purchasing/downloading this lesson.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED FOR THE LAB:
· Large bag of plain chocolate M&M packets
· Clear plastic cups (about 1 per student)
· Pitcher of water
· Stirring sticks
· 2 packets of sugar per group of 4
· Reliable Internet Connection
