Martin Luther King Day Grade 3 4 5 Leveled Reading and Activities

This engaging mini-unit contains a non-fiction biography about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with extension activities for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. After students read about his life, they will get inside Dr. King’s mind to create an Open-Mind Portrait about his thoughts, words, and actions. Students will summarize important details with an interactive flap book. They will work in teams to discuss the book using the Fan-N-Pick cooperative learning structure. They will make text-to-self connections by writing about their own dreams for home, school, and the world with an interactive notebook foldable. They will even get to take home the coloring book biography (available in full page or as a mini foldable) about Dr. King for repeated readings!
