This Smartboard presentation gives students an introduction to what a memoir is. It lays out the expectations for a typical memoir writing unit. It includes the following:
1) Brainstorming page about what a memoir is and why people write memoirs
2) A reading activity where you read a excerpt from Lois Lowry's memoir "Looking Back"
3) A brainstorming page to help students come up with "seed story" ideas for their collection of memoirs
4) The expectations for the memoir writing unit
5) A memoir writing log students can use to keep track of the memoirs they write.
