Music Unit Treble Staff Practice for Piano and Xylophone BUNDLE

I created this treble staff reading, writing, playing, and composing unit as a way to teach note reading skills to my elementary piano lab students as well as to my general elementary music students on barred instruments.

This unit focuses on note reading and writing skills for all notes on the treble staff as well as playing in C position (right hand) on the piano or xylophone.

After students are comfortable reading, writing, and playing in C position, they will then complete one of two composition tasks provided.

(These sheets photocopied front to back are great as a way to introduce one note at a time to students or to use in centers or for early finishers)

Right-Hand Playing Practice Booklet for piano and xylophone (barred instruments) includes 12 original songs starting with just middle C and D on the staff and moving up to playing middle C,D, E, F, G on the staff.

My students love this handy booklet, but you will also receive the original songs as one page sheets if you would like to use them that way.

2 Composition Tasks

You choose between the easy or harder version in order to differentiate instruction.

-The Easy composition task includes:

3 Guided sheets to help students compose a 4 measure song using middle C, D, and E on the staff with rhythms given.

-The Harder composition task includes:

5 guided sheets that lead students in composing their own original 4 measure song with their own lyrics on the staff.

I have seen a tremendous amount of growth in reading, writing and playing notes on the staff in my students using this unit and I hope you will too!
