What educators are saying

Really nice activity! My students enjoyed this. We used this as a review before our nomenclature test.
Great resource. I pre-cut my pieces because the kids cut so slow they'd waste half of class doing it, your mileage my vary. Having the version with the edge pieces that need to be corrected was a great way to kick it up a notch.

Description

Are you teaching how to name and write the formulas for compounds? You’ve got to check this out!

This is part of my Naming Compounds Bundle AND my cost-saving, amazing Chemistry Bundle!

This is a review tarsia puzzle for naming compounds and writing formulas. It covers:
• binary ionic compounds
• ionic compounds with metals that have multiple ionic charges
• ionic compounds with polyatomic ions
• molecular compounds

There are two main versions of this puzzle: one with edges and one without. There are no matches for the names and formulas that are on the edges. The edges contain names and formulas that address common misconceptions for these topics. For example, nitrogen gas is listed and so is “N” and “N2”. Students will need to remember that nitrogen is diatomic or the puzzle will not come together correctly.

What’s included in the zipped folder?
This resource consists of 9 .pdf files
4 files with the common misconceptions along the edges in sizes small, medium, large and extra large
4 files without edges in sizes small, medium, large and extra large
1 how-to file
