Netflix Explained: The Stock Market
What educators are saying
Description
Engage your students in this quick NETFLIX episode (about 20 minutes) on the stock market! Often times, the stock market is something that is regarded as too complex to understand, or too risky to get involved with. However, this episode is extremely informative, comparing the stock market to a simple lemonade stand. It teaches students, and adults alike, a very simplistic way of understanding how it all works. The episode discusses the S&P 500, DOW, NASDAQ, the history of the stock market, and provides tips from Warren Buffet. This is great for any social studies, economics, or government class! However, I would argue that this information should be taught in ALL classes. Knowing how to invest money is an excellent, if not essential, life skill that I wish I had been taught in high school!
The worksheet has 21 questions in chronological order; 3 are "pre-watch" questions and two are "post-watch" questions. You may need to pause the episode to ensure students don't miss anything. Or, you could use this as substitute work. A key is provided!
