What educators are saying

I know this is advertised as "extra" but I think it really enhances the skills we're learning and gives students another opportunity to show what they know and dig deeper into language. Thanks so much!
My students enjoyed using this writing project. They drew interesting pictures, very imaginative. This helped them to write their stories. Writing became easier for them.

This bundle of no prep resources is great to have on hand for those days throughout the school year when you need an engaging reading or writing lesson and don't have any planning time, or when you want to have some activities for substitute teachers. • A question and answer note taking page for the interview
    • 3 reflection activities to help students reflect on the activity and think show what they learned about their classmate

While this is a great activity to use for back to school to help students feel comfortable around each other, it can also be used throughout the school year with different partners to build classroom community.

    3. Squiggle Stories

Engage your students during writing by having them create squiggle stories / squiggle drawings! Have your 3rd or 4th grade students draw an image that integrates the squiggle provided, and then write a short story inspired by the image.

The writing "prompts" included are more like directed brainstorming to help focus your students writing and practice other skills.

    4. Categorizing Words Activity

This fun, no prep reading center has students sort words into categories based on similarities. This is a great way to help 3rd and 4th grade students build vocabulary, practice categorization and sorting skills, and learn to distinguish between topic and main idea.

For each activity, students are given a list of words. They sort the words into 3 groups based on similar topics, and then come up with a title for each of the groups.

These activities are self-explanatory and can easily be completed by students independently.

    9. Thank You Letter Template
