ABOUT DOODLE NOTES
- Students will color, doodle, and/or embellish the note pages as they learn about text features.
- Two versions of doodle notes are provided. One version includes guided notes. The other version is completely filled in.
- Doodle notes cause a connection between the right and left hemisphere of the brain. This leads to an increase in learning, focus, and learning retention.
- The doodles on the note page help students to connect images with information and significantly increases their ability to remember what they have learned.
ABOUT THE “DO” ACTIVITIES
This resource includes 3 “Do” activities for students to practice and showcase their learning:
- Reading & Mini-Book – Students will read a nonfiction passage, answer comprehension questions, and then put together a mini-book all about the nonfiction text features that they can find in the passage.
- Create Your Own Text Features – Students will read a nonfiction passage that is missing text features. They’ll need to insert text features into the passage before creating comprehension questions for a classmate to answer.
