Why am I qualified to write this novel study? I have 30 years of experience as a reading teacher, as well as 15 years of experience as an assessment writer for both state and national testing. I pulled from both of these experiences when I created this guide. It has some activities designed to make learning fun, such as the story elements interactive notebook with drag and drop parts, the character task cards, and the quiz style review game, but it is also filled with high rigor activities. The purpose of these high rigor activities is to improve reading comprehension skills, master figurative language, increase vocabulary, improve test taking skills, identify story elements, and finally, chart the elements of plot. The pacing guide spells out when to complete each of these activities in a cohesive manner. The chapter by chapter questions help keep students grounded and accountable, and the periodic quizzes and final test are in self-grading google forms, which is very convenient for teachers.

Other novel guides with Google Drive option for use in Google Classroom include Indian Captive: The Story of Mary Jemison, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, The Giver, and Bridge to Terabithia.

A+ Literature Guides are made by a language arts teacher with 30 years of experience teaching language arts, as well as 15 years of experience writing state and national assessments that align with common core standards.
