Ohio Government - The Ohio Executive Branch
- Zip
Description
This set of files includes a great overview of the Ohio Executive Branch. The state of Ohio passed a law requiring teachers of American Government to include covering the Constitution of Ohio, and this can help you do that!
I have always been frustrated with the general way that textbooks cover state and local governments, so I decided to replace that chapter with this information. I pulled a lot of info from the official government websites that I wanted to teach about. It's a great way to teach what's actually in place for this state more accurately and completely than you could with a national textbook.
Included in this set of files are the following:
- Readings about the Executive Branch and its structure, including excerpts from The Ohio Constitution (note: this helps satisfy the state's requirements under S.B. 165)
- An interactive PowerPoint to supplement the readings. This includes the PowerPoint, a Master Outline for your reference, and a fill-in outline for students to complete while viewing the PowerPoint. (Note, this PowerPoint refers to a local school in my school's area when looking at the Auditor of State's iniative to save money for local government entities. To see if there's something in your area that was affected by this iniative, check out his website here )
