2/8/24 Updated to include metric versions....I did not update the sample file.
This lab was inspired by responses from my Personality Online Eysenck lab.
In the PO Eysenck lab, I ask the students to take out a penny and trace it onto the “Eysenck circle” to predict where their personalities will be.
Needless to say, not everyone has a penny in their pocket so I got a bunch of “freehand” circles…. I thought, hmmm,…this is interesting,….they did not really look like great estimates of the true size of a penny. Of course, during the memory unit I demonstrate that we have very little idea what a penny looks like….so I am curious about size,…hence this lab.
In the first 6 of these labs, we estimate the size of the coin and then compare the amount of error with our estimate. YOU CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU DON’T ENCODE.
In the second set we estimate the size of the coin and compare our results across sexes to see if there is a sex advantage.
Ok,…so obviously I got on a roll and made a page for each of our US coins…of course if you are as old as me then you remember the large old dollar coins,….the dimensions on this page are for the new “gold colored” dollars.
After everyone hears about your first period having to do a penny and they come in all smug for 2nd period after having looked at a penny, you can bust out the dime, nickel or quarter page on them,….bwahahaha….
