There are four tasks that go along with each passage:

1. Mark Up the Text - Students read through the text and annotate by underling, highlighting, and adding symbols as needed.
2. Key Terms - Students choose three key terms that relate to the content of the text. Then they find a definition and write it in their own words.
3. Quick Check - This section provides 3 comprehension questions including multiple choice, fill in the blank, and/or short answer questions.
4. Write About It! - This section includes a text-based written response prompt for students to respond to.

Each set also comes with 3 to 4 extension activities and an answer key with sample responses.
