WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Included are 8 different sets of tasks to systematically teach students to follow written directives. Sets included:
Set 1: The picture is the main focus of the direction card. These cards are perfect for students who have a limited sight word vocabulary and rely heavily on picture cues.
Set 2: This group of cards begins to add in more words. At this point, students are learning to read a 2-word directive accompanied with a picture cue.
Set 3: This set has 3 words and while the picture is still there, it is no longer the major focus. The picture is being faded out. You could also cover the picture and have students try to read the text before looking at the picture to see if they were correct.
Set 4: Students practice the directives containing 3 to 7 words and no picture cue. Directives are presented one at a time.
Set 5: Students practice reading and following 2-step written directions. Both directives are presented at the same time.
Set 6: Students practice reading and following 3-step written directions. All three directives are presented at the same time.
Set 7: Students practice reading and following 4-step written directions listed together.
Set 8: Students practice reading and following 5-step written directions and should now be able to do so with no or limited support.
