This ELA Worksheet set includes the following four Summer Olympics worksheets:
*FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE
Students must read the sentences and decide which type of figurative language is being used.
They must choose from the following:
- simile
- metaphor
- personification
- alliteration
- hyperbole
- imagery
- onomatopoeia
The last two lines are for students to write their own examples of figurative language.
*FACT OR OPINION
Students must read the sentences and decide if each one is a fact or an opinion. Once they have labeled each sentence, they will be able to figure out the missing word at the bottom of the page.
*AUTHOR'S PURPOSE
Students must read descriptions of text and decide what the author's purpose is:
- to inform
- to entertain
- to persuade
At the bottom of the page, there is a section in which they must choose one of the description and write a paragraph based on that author's purpose.
*ADJECTIVES & ADVERBS
For the first 10 sentences, students must underline the adjectives and circle the adverbs. For the next 5 sentences, students must rewrite each sentence, adding adjectives and adverbs
