Saving Fred First Day of School Science Lab

This is a great team building activity that requires students to work in small groups and attempt to get Fred the gummy worm into the lifesaver using only 4 paperclips. This science lab requires students to collaborate, strategies, and embrace failure. Materials you will need for this lab are: Cup, 4 paper clips, a gummy worm, and a lifesaver. If the students tough the gummy worm with their hands or let Fred fall into the water (on their desks) they have to retry. This is NGSS aligned and perfect for many age groups! Great way to introduce lab procedures to your class! Now with Digital Learning Alternatives included for remote learning students! Remote learners will graphic design instead of complete the lab. Reading passage is digital and printable format. Google Form to address reading comprehension for the passage. Digital scientific method quiz also included that grades itself!
